Immigration Will Not Be Easy By the Time the Job Situation in U.S Heals
by Vinita Amrit - August 3, 2011
The job situation would take years to correct says government official. However, immigration will not be easy then. US never fully recovered from the meltdown of the Wall Street in the year 2007. Thus, followed a series of years that were affected by recession. Even as US recover from this recession, there seems to be a lack of jobs in the market.

It Takes Time To Heal: Economist Benjamin Tal stated in a report that the root cause of this problem is because the US is covered in debts. This means that the federal government will be subtracting from the economic growth of the country. This is one of the more obvious reasons. A lesser obvious reason as to why the job market of the US will takes years to heal is the fact that the job creating mechanism of the US has been severely damaged during the years of recession and would take many years to be revived to its former status.
Vicious Circle Of Poor Decisions: In 2009, the US saw a 2.6 percent drop in its economy. If this wasn’t bad enough, the country also saw a rise of 3.5 percent in its unemployment rate. This was a result of many subsequent events.
First was the meltdown of the Wall Street. Banks suffered a great loss and were crippled. Secondly, these recession years made sophisticated equipments available at a cheap price. Obviously, people bought those equipments which resulted in a decrease of manual labor. Subsequently, production became more capital intensive and less labor intensive. Thirdly, when needed during the recession, salary was not dropped and hence profits were less for the company. This negated the company’s ability to hire new people.
More than anyone, construction companies were affected the most. The people who were hit the hardest by this were the construction and assembly-line workers. As they didn’t have many skills they were unable to get employment in other fields.
Gauging from the damage incurred in the job creating sector of US during the recession, Tal says that the country would take a long time to heal its market.
Choose Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea: However, immigrating may not be all that easy by then. Latest news from around the world reveals that many countries are taking drastic measures in eliminating the growing concern of illegal immigrants into their countries. Tightened security and stern vigilance will make immigration to the US a lot more difficult. Recently, news of Alabama introducing a harsh anti immigration legislation to drive out immigrants from their area, made the news. It won’t be long before other states of the US start taking such drastic measures as well.
