Immigration wait times in Canada

The application processing time varies according to the type of applications processed in Canada. So, different types of applications may fall under any of the listed categories---

v      Sponsorship applications;

v      Permanent residence;

v      Permanent resident cards;

v      Temporary residence;

v      Certified copies and replacements of documents.

For calculating the estimated processing time for your application, you need to consider the date mentioned in the column “Processing Applications Received up to”, and then add the time mentioned in the column “Current Processing Time” to the date when your submitted the application. You will get to know an estimate about the time of getting a response from the CIC.

Application Processing Times for In-Canada applications (updated by CIC on 18^th January, 2010)

CPC – Mississauga – (Application processing times) ----

·         For Adopted Children, Children to be Adopted and Orphans---Processed daily on a priority.

·         For Parents and Grandparents (Processing applications received up to May 4,2007), Current processing time—32 months.

·         Acknowledgement of receipt letter for applications to sponsor grandparents and parents---December 18, 2009.

·         For Spouse, Common-law or Conjugal partner, dependent children and other relatives-(Processing applications received up to December 23, 2009), Current processing time-37 days.

CPC – PRC Sydney – (Application processing times) ----

Permanent Resident Card---

1.       Initial, replacement or renewal of PR card for existing permanent residents—(Processing applications received up to Oct 22, 2009), current processing time is 113 days.

2.       Newly arriving permanent residents – (current processing time is 30 days after Canadian mailing address has been provided.)

1.       Humanitarian and Compassionate cases—For Processing Applications received up to August 15, 2009, current processing time is 5 months.

2.       Live-in Caregiver- For Processing Applications received up to July 14, 2009, current processing time is 6 months.

3.       Protected Persons and Convention Refugees- For Processing Applications received up to   August 30, 2009, current processing time is 4-5 months.

4.       Spouse or Common law partner class- For Processing Applications received up to July 14, 2009, current processing time is 6 months.

Temporary Residence---

1.       Protected Persons Status Document – For Processing Applications received up to December 29, 2009, current processing time is 16 days.

2.       Study Permit—For Processing Applications received up to    December 19, 2009, current processing time is 26 days.

3.       On-line (Study and off Campus Work permits)-For Processing Applications received up to    December 20,2009, current processing time is 25 days.

4.       Visitor Extension or change of conditions- For Processing Applications received up to     Oct 27,2009, current processing time is 79 days.

5.       Work permits- (Same employer unit 202) For Processing Applications received up to Oct 30,2009, current processing time is 76 days.

Work permits – (New employer unit 555) For Processing Applications received up to Dec 19,2009, current processing time is 26 days.
