Canada, January 21: Bias and wrath are common problems faced by increasing number of immigrants in Canada, US and several other European nations as they go for job search.
This is evident from several incidents revealed by immigrants in foreign lands. And one such incident that happened only recently involves discrimination meted out to two Muslims going for Canada job search. Their only folly was that they belonged to a country other than Canada. Both are legal allowed to live and work in Canada after having got Canadian immigration.
Although, 26-year-old Ali Karim had sufficient work experience as a security guard and also went through the relevant formal training, along with his friend, Usama Ismail, required before receiving call from the firm, Contemporary Security Canada, providing security guard jobs for Olympic security, yet he was denied an opportunity to be invited for this Canada job.
And the reason cited for not being called to join their duty in Canada by the firm’s letter mailed to them seemed quite vague. They were told that because of their inability to gain the Mounties’ security clearance, hence, they could not be employed by the firm.
It may be mentioned that both Mr. Ismail and Mr. Karim are Canadian immigrants and both of them were in utter disbelief at knowing this decision of the Canadian firm. They felt cheated.
While, Ismail kept mum on this issue, Karim said the most obvious reason for being
denied to get employment in Canada is due to the fact that they belong to different ethnic background (immigrants in Canada) and are
Muslims.
Karim wants to know the reason for being targeted and singled out of the job market.
On the other hand, the security company and the Mounties reasoned out any discrimination meted out to these immigrants in Canada.
But, the official spokeswoman for the Integrated Security Unit and an RCMP Corporal, Jen Allan, maintained that any rejected candidate can seek an answer for the denial by the company by applying under federal Access to Information legislation and he will get an answer within a week’s time.
