Obama and Romney make various reform plans on illegal immigration

A few months back, Obama Administration had proposed plan to defer the deportation of young undocumented immigrants by at least two more years. In fact, they were given a set of criteria and if they fulfilled those, they were assured of not being deported. These young immigrants have been given visas to stay for another two years’ time.
Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney has assured these undocumented immigrants that they would be allowed to stay back in the country even after the visa gets expired.
Romney’s views on illegal immigration
When Obama had announced DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) then a strong criticism was extended by Romney, against the program. He had also said that such programs can never be a permanent solution to issues like Illegal immigration.
He had also suggested that illegal immigrants should be given the option of “self-deportation” so that those who don’t have a job can return back to their home countries on their own.
The Impact of DACA on Elections
Latinos are giving Obama a higher rating for handling issues like “illegal immigration”. Before the announcement of this plan the same set of people had criticized Obama for backing from the promises he had made in 2008 to sort out the issue of undocumented immigrants.
Obama, himself had said that his biggest failure is that he couldn’t do much on this issue. But now, he has come up with this plan which has pleased a large number of illegal immigrants.
The present stance of Romney
Romney says, “The people who have received the special visa that the president has put in place should expect that the visa would continue to be valid.”
He has also assured that if becomes the President then his Administration would ensure that there firm programs in support of illegal immigrants.
Election rotates the wheels
Experts have questioned the changing view of Romney. In an answer to this his advisers have said, that they are surely targeting the voters why have a soft support for Obama, but in the process they are doing it with an agenda.
Romney’s Adviser Madden says, “There are also a number of voters out there who may be registering some level of support for President Obama that is very soft, the question is what we are going to do to make the case to them the governor Romney has a better vision for the future. ”
A country where there are nearly 2 million illegal immigrants, no President can assume to win the Elections without keeping them in the loop.
