Hundreds of students throng Education UK expo


India, 30th April: Several Indian students wanting to grab the offer of UK scholarships for earning an international degree attended the Education UK expo by the British Council on 28th April this year.

The ‘Education UK Exhibition’ held in Thiruvananthpuram (Kerala), India attracted a large number of aspirants from middle class background aspiring to study in the UK. The one-day education expo highlighted various UK academic opportunities.

Large takers for UK scholarships—Based strictly on merit and available for a number of educational courses in the UK, such UK scholarships are becoming a favored route for pursuing higher education, states Head of Education, UK(South India), L. Dhanasekaran.

Participants flocked to know about scholarships offered by British Council including Dr. Manmohan Singh Scholarships, the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship and Saltire Scholarship, Scotland.

For any Indian from a middle-class background, the thought of studying in a foreign nation including the UK seems next to impossible without the facility full scholarship, states a Law graduate, M. Shaji.

So, international exposure as well as lifestyle exposed during such exhibitions attracts many students, adds Shaji.

The offer of getting funds for pursuing higher education in the UK institutes is alluring to Indian students and this was proved by an increasingly high number of takers for the UK scholarships.

The reason behind participation by some of the well-known UK universities in such education exhibitions is grabbing maximum number of foreign students through scholarships.

The event had participants from several prominent UK universities including University of West London, University College Plymouth St. Mark & St. John, London Metropolitan University, University of East London, Manchester Metropolitan University, Sheffield Hallam University and Swansea University.

Latest information about UK education opportunities--The best thing for Indian students attending the UK education expo was that they were provided an opportunity to have a direct meeting with these UK delegates and get detailed information with regard to options of study courses in the UK and the choice of subjects available.

Moreover, such education exhibitions offer first-hand knowledge about various schemes of scholarships in the UK, admits a Biotechnology graduate, Titus Bobby.

He was thrilled to get information about scholarships in applied science. According to yet another participant in the UK education exhibition, Nikita Mathew, the exhibition provided all the relevant information needed by students for pursuing any particular course of education in the UK.
