As per the statistics released through salary guide of New Zealand Immigration’s official website, an experience optometrist can expect to get around $90,000 in Auckland.

Shortage of skilled workers in New Zealand--The salary hike in New Zealand industries is due to the fact that New Zealand is facing an acute shortage of talented skilled workers. Pool of talented skilled individuals is drying up in New Zealand and the growing demand in New Zealand industries is calling for an immediate need to get the required workforce.

Hence, the offer of increased pay packages will help in attracting and retaining the skilled workers in New Zealand industries. According to managing director of Robert Walters Salary Survey 2013 Richard Manthel, employers’ hiring activity puts more pressure on skills.

And when the demand for a specific skill-set (or skill-sets) grows, this is going to be accompanied by an increase in salaries, Manthel maintained.
