High demand for US H-1B visas

United States, 30th June: Here is good news for those wanting to move to the US on US H-1B visas.

There has been a significant rise in the number of US H-1B visas issued in the recent times and the increase has been noticeable in the US H-1B visas to be issued to those from India.

The scene is set to keep brightening as the US officials have stated that the number of US H-1B visas to be issued in the current financial year are going to increase. The officials maintain that in all categories of US work permits, a growth of 10 percent is predicted year-on-year.

James W.Herman, Counselor for Consular Affair at U.S. Embassy, said the rise in the number of US H-1B visas to be issued in the coming months will continue after the exceedingly lower limits seen due to economic downturn in the last year.

During the economic slowdown, several Indian giants including Satyam, TCS and Infosys, which comprised a big share of the total US work permits were seen off the list.

In the period from January to June 25, 2010, a total of 55,477 US H-1Bvisas were issued while in the previous year, the number of US H-1B visas issued was 55,050.

The increase has also been clearly visible in the number of L1 visas issued in the same period. Official figures show a total of 35,504 US L1 visas as compared to the figures of 31,314 in the previous year.

It is being forecast by USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) that the whole quota of US H-1B visas for the year 2011 will be exhausted by August 2010. The US H-1B quota for graduate and PhD students will be consumed by July 2010.

The increase in the number of US H-1B visas for Chinese migrants has been by 30 percent. And the reason for this significantly higher growth is because the US visas are issued to Chinese for shorter durations.

Rise in the US work permits to be issued for Indians and Chinese citizens together with the increase in the waiting period for L1 and H1 visas authenticates the fact that the US economy is improving and the job scenario is brightening up.
