Guide to US visa application process

United States, 4th July: Are you looking to immigrate to the US but feeling confused? Here is a guide to give all the details of the US visa application process.

For all applicants desirous of US immigration, the most important pre-requisite is to know the visa type for which they want to apply. There are different types of US visas including US student visa, US business visa, US H-1B visa and so on.

Once you have decided the category of US visa under which you want to move to the US, consider following steps-----

• Find your consular district.

• Fill DS-160 application form by going online. In fact, you can save a copy of it for your future reference.

• Get a print out of the DS-160 barcode confirmation sheet given the end of DS-160 application form. Also, keep a copy of it with yourself. This confirmation sheet is in the form of a PDF file.

• Get your appointment using the fee receipt and your barcode number. The next thing is to download and get a print out of appointment letter.

• Reach the US consulate or US Embassy around fifteen minutes priority to your appointment along with relevant documents and adhere to all security rules.

Vital tips---
1. Always apply early because the processing time for a US visa can vary from person to person depending upon specific requirements and circumstances.

2. It is advisable to book your appointment for the interview as any delay could deter you from getting the preferred time and date. The reason is that despite of efforts to process all the applicants at the earliest, the US consulate or the US embassy might have backlog or rush of applications for US visa.

No Show procedures---
If any applicant fails to show up for his/her appointment for scheduled interview at the US consulate or US embassy, then he is deemed to be a no-show applicant. If you happen to be a no-show applicant, then you must reactivate your receipt of fee before getting a new appointment for interview.
