by cyndie - January 10, 2013
Government of Canada proposed to frame new rules for international students. The Government is planning to restrict Student Visas.

International students in Canada contribute about $6 billion to the Canadian economy every year. The Government aims to stop abuse of the International Student Program. The Government intends to put a check upon International Students seeking to work illegally in Canada.
Immigration Minister Kenney expressed his intention to maintain the high educational standards of the educational institutions in Canada. Economy of Canada can be benefitted in that way as stated by Kenney.
The Government aims to formulate new regulations limiting international student visas to students of institutions recognized by provinces and territories. It has recently been announced that the Government is planning to limit the number of Canadian schools sponsoring international students migrating for the purpose of studying in Canada. The proposed new rules would ensure that international students are arriving at quality institutions complying with the basic standards of an educational institution.
The immigration department of Canada is of the opinion that the primary intention of a student in Canada should be to study. They would require complying with the conditions of student visas framed by CIC. This would be a check upon the student visa frauds in the country.
Though such fraudulent attitude of international students are not been reported by local statistics in the Country, still the Government suspects that there might be few international students utilizing the student study visa of Canada to get entry in Canada and disappear thereafter. There is indeed necessity for such a preventive plan as the country could be subjected to the said problems at any moment.
According to the new regulations the local provincial governments will have to make a list of educational institutions sponsoring international students. The schools which are not enlisted will not be allowed to sponsor international students.
The new policy is most likely to affect the conditions of the educational as well as financial market of Canada. The school which is not enlisted might go out of business .The sudden changes in the rules might have an adverse impact on their finances of the schools which would fail to get their name enlisted. This can be a possible negative impact of the new proposed regulations.
