Fraser Study suggests immigration should be linked with Job Offers
by Grace - May 24, 2011
The recent study conducted Fraser institute suggests that Canada should improve their policies for choosing immigrants for the country.

The study conducted by the Fraser Institute resulted with the suggestion that the process related to the selection of Canada’s immigrants needs to be amended and more stress should be given on allowing the immigrants who have already have the job offers from the country not much focus should be on the other general immigrants.
Report says immigrants turned as costly affair:
According to the Herbert Grubel, a senior fellow and professor at the Fraser University and one of the co-author of the study brought out from the study that it has been found that immigrants earn around on an average as 72 per cent as compared to the country and pay just half of the income taxes as compared to the Canadians and enjoy the equal amount of the government facilities provided.
It has also been found that such immigrants make full use of the country’s facilities and somewhere or the other pose a burden on the tax payers of the Canada countrymen.
Patrick Grady, an economist, cum the co- author of the presented report commented that this amount is expected to grow as more migrants are expected to turn up, if the similar immigration policies are followed by the country.
The experts are worried about the present condition, they have point of view that with aging of the Canada’s residents, the increasing number of immigrants specially those who don’t contribute much to the economy will add up to the costly affair the in the coming times. They are of view that the immigration policies require a change and entering immigrants should be carefully selected.
Reforms Proposed:
The ones having a job offer should be given temporary work visas only and that too when paying average wage of the appropriate province.
Work visa applicable for just 2 years and can be renewed for another 2 years on presenting appropriate proof of the employment.
Partners and the dependents of the work visas holders should be entertained in Canada only through family work visas.
The immigrants under work visa should find another job within short interval of three four months or should leave the country except if they are covered under family work visa program.
Only after four years of employment in Canada the immigrants will be legitimate to apply for permanent immigrants visas.
Only if the immigrants post bonds to cover the health payments of their parents and grandparents then only they will be allowed join the immigrant in Canada.
