Canadian Immigration is governed by immigration Act, 1976 and by the Regulations of 1978. It deals with the arrival of Immigrants and visitors.
Immigrants have been classified into three categories-
-The family Class: An immigrant who is sponsored by a close relative who himself is a permanent resident of Canada. This category makes up about 40% of the Immigrants. Most of them start establishing their own houses after arriving in Canada. According to a recent study the members of this class are not prepared enough to make much contribution to the economy of the nation. They are also seen to have less of experience and even no knowledge of the official language too.
-Independent immigrants: They are selected to contribute in the labor market. They basically comprise the skilled percentage of the immigrants.
-Refugees are the ones who flee out of a war zone looking for a safe have or are affected by any natural disaster.
The aim selecting Immigrants is to help them establishing successfully in Canada. The ultimate purpose is to make them contribute in growing Canadian economy.
The Commission has Settlement programs to ensure fastest possible establishment of the immigrants. This does not only help the Immigrants but also the nation.
“Adjustment Assistance” is provided to all the needy Immigrants arriving Canada. This sis given till the time and immigrant is able to settle and sustain him. This assistance is proportional to current social welfare rate of a given province.
Experiencing the rapid movement of Immigrants, the Federal Government has increased the size of assistance provided.
The Settlement Branch looks into the program and budget allocation. The employment and insurance sector looks into the implementation part.
There might be a few grey shades in selection of Immigrants but the Government has been making efforts to help them and help the nation too.
