Canada visas are in high demand by Filipinos since these offer them opportunities of working at higher pays along with better working conditions.
Canada also needs migrants from the Philippines to work in Canada.
As per the official figures, presently, the number of applications being processed for Canada work permits by Filipino nationals happens to be just one out of 20 such applications and that too in 28 days time. This ratio of processing of Canada work permits at Canada Embassy in Manila comes to just around 5 percent.
This is a far cry in comparison to the percentage of Canada work visas processed in Canada visa offices in the US and Europe is 83 percent and 86 percent respectively in exactly the same time period of 28 days.
Meanwhile, the percentage of Canada work visas processed in 28 days time at various other Canada visa offices the world over is around 72 percent, the sources maintain.
And the scenario for processing time of Canada work visas for caregivers is even worse. The data maintains that Canada Embassy in Manila takes around a year and a half for processing Canada work permit applications.
Canada is seeing a high demand for engineers, caregivers, construction workers, nurses, chefs and several other workers in different jobs hailing from the Philippines. But the undue delay in the processing of visas is posing a serious obstacle in the way of immigration of workers to Canada.
A high demand for Filipino workers is, inevitably, due to the fact that these workers are highly skilled and extremely productive, thus proving beneficial for the economy of Canada.
Employers in Canada are not willing to wait for such long periods for processing of Canada work visas to hire workers in the Philippines. Rather, they are opting to recruit and hire Filipino workers presently living in nations other than the Philippines since the processing time of countries like Australia, US, UK, Japan and others is quite less.
Hence, there seems to be an increased need for the government of the Philippines to urge the Canadian Embassy for finding out a path to speed up the processing of Canada work permits of Filipinos.
