Curbing of family visas leads to long wait for Settling

Changes in Family and marriage visa system has come up as an important change in the recent reforms made by UK in its immigration system.

To curb down the number of immigrants to the country, the authorities are tightening the rules for the immigrants to bring in their family members through family visas.

As per the new rules now the immigrant’s spouses overseas have to spend five years to settle in the country with their partner. Previously the wait time was two years; the span has now increased by three years. This development will bring the spouses of the immigrants at an equal status with those as of the other immigrants who are first time coming to the country and have to wait for the five years to settle in country as per the new stricter rules.
The change is brought in the system with a view, that the extended time limit will help the immigrants spouse to the country’s society and will lead to peaceful settlement with it.

They also hope that their cracking down in number of fraud marriages which were usually performed with the sole purpose to get permanent residency in the country.

The rules have now been tightened because the previous easy rules were used by the immigrants to entre country by avoiding other harder rules.

This new step is also expected to help in controlling the entry of criminals other undesirable people who take benefit of such rules.

As per the ongoing rules the partners of the immigrants can come under the family system visa and can get settled in the country after two years, whereas any normal immigrant coming had to wait for 5 years to get its legitimacy and applying for permanent residence status.

As per the statistics available it has been reported that as much of 50,000 immigrants have entered the country through this family visa system and was found that 8,000 out of them solely dependents, hence family visa turning up as easy way to enter the country.

Another loop hole that has been causing lot of disturbance is that even an illegal immigrant to the country can attain visa through marriage visa system and that too for just £10,000.

The immigration minister of the country, Damian Green comments on the situation that the family and marriage visas rules have been misused by the immigrants and now there is need of an amendment regarding it. The other ministers are also supporting the same idea and found the change as need of the hour.
