Construction workers needed in Canada

Canada, 24th July: Here is good news for construction workers. Canada beckons you.

Yes, it is true. While many nations are struggling to cope up with high rates of jobless workers, Canada is facing a shortage of construction workers.

Shortage of construction workers in Canada—Canadian construction industry needs workers with requisite skills to fill vacant job positions.

According to director of government relations and public affairs for the Canadian Construction Association, Bill Ferreira, shortage of construction workers is severe in Saskatchewan, Alberta and B.C.(British Columbia). Moreover, there is also a high demand for residential construction workforce, he adds.

As per available sources, Canada will experience a shortfall of as many as 319,000 construction workers by the year 2020.

This will be in the wake of ageing population and increasingly high demand of workers.

Increasing activities of mineral mining and oil drilling have multiplied the need for construction workers in the nation, admitted Ferreira. Canada is already seeking foreign workers with requisite construction skills from nations including Germany, UK, Ireland to be absorbed in the jobs.

But, Americans seem to be the top choice of Canadian construction industry, adds Ferreira.

That’s due to an almost equal wages in both Canada and the neighboring US.

Job fairs to easing workforce shortage—Since, the nation is struggling to cope up with the huge shortage of construction workers, the gist lies in having a platform for connecting the jobless workers with the employers in Canadian construction industry.

An effort in this regard is the plan to organize job fairs in the coming two to three months for help bring out-of-job workers in Riverside County(in Las Vegas) with jobs lying vacant north.

Meanwhile, the detailed information with regard to the procedure for applying for such jobs or about the expected wages is still being worked out.

Canadian construction industry to hire 400 Portuguese workers—As per the details confirmed by an official spokesperson of the Construction Union, Canada has expressed its interest in employing nearly 400 Portuguese workers at Canadian construction jobs.

And this is a welcome development for Portuguese workers since the average wage rate in Canada is quite high as the current rate prevalent in Portugal. As per the information, Canada pays €32 per hour while Portugal pays nothing more than €14 per hour.
