Canada, 25th April: Canada immigration department has assured all foreigners stranded in Canada due to cancellation of flights that they need not worry following expiry of their Canadian visas.

Canada immigration officials have reiterated all the immigrants, temporary residents and stranded passengers that they will be given a special right to live in Canada for next 30 days as part of a special concession.
This special concession is applicable for those who Canada visas had expired on or after 15th April, 2010.
Canada immigration minister Jason Kenney stated that such special allowances are being given to the stranded air travelers following cancellation of thousands of international flights to Europe and Britain due to volcanic ash in Iceland. Volcanic ash clouds could be seen hovering over the sky forcing long delays in several flights.
Flight cancellations had left a large number of foreigner travelers and immigrants stranded in different airports and as well as airport hotels.
Moreover, all temporary residents outside the country (Canada) seeking their move to Canada, who were earlier unable to make their move and complete their plans for travel will now be provided opportunity to make applications, without any fee, for temporary replacement of their expired permanent residents visas.
However, there are some special conditions for this. An immigrant in Canada whose medical certificate has become expired will have to get a new health/medical assessment done for ensuring their travel to Canada.
Moreover, it has been made quite clear for the knowledge of various stranded travelers and immigrants in Canada affected by delayed flights that all extensions provided by Canada immigration department will be applicable only until 30th June, 2010. And once regular air travel is resumed to Europe and Britain, new extensions will not be granted.
Although, skies across a large part of Europe could be seen opening up on 21st April, 2010, but still, some restrictions on international flights are likely to remain in Ireland, Britain, Scandinavia and France as some volcanic ash is lingering even now.
