Changes in the UK immigration rules affecting many
by Christine M - May 11, 2011
United Kingdom, 11th May: Recent changes introduced in the UK visa rules are having a dampening effect on the number of applications for the UK immigration.

Fewer applicants seem to be applying for the UK immigration after the changes came into effect in April 2011.
The number of aspirants for UK work visas has gone down considerably.
According to available figures, around 75 percent of the funds provided by the UKBA (UK Border Agency) towards UK work visas for skilled immigrant workers have not been used.
Hopes of many immigrants dashed, but other options available—With the closure of the UK Tier 1 visa route, many aspiring immigrants to the UK are feeling sad and lost since their dream of immigrating to the UK seems to be almost shattered.
UK investor visa-- A good option for many--Nonetheless, those wanting to come to the UK to set up business here can explore the route of UK Entrepreneur and investment visa program to come to the UK. The fact that the UK immigration has slashed the earlier requirement of a minimum stay of 5 years for residency is going to make things easier for UK investment visa applicants.
UK visitor visa scheme-Another option open for the aspirants of UK immigration is UK visitor visa program. This program enables aspirants to come and live in the UK.
UK businesses confused about the lower number of UK work visa applications after the recent cap—Majority of UK enterprises are in a jiffy over the poor turnout of the aspirants for the UK work visas after the introduction of the recent UK visa cap in April this year.
Ms. Julia Onslow-Cole, head of immigration at PwC Legal, feels that the reason for the poor intake of UK work visa applications in April this year is not due to less demand. She also expressed optimism that the number of applicants for UK work visas might improve in the coming month as the firms adjust with the new visa norms.
According to figures revealed by the UKBA for the month of April this year, out of the total 4,200 sponsorship certificates for skilled immigrant workers set aside for allowing firms to gain UK Tier 2 work permits, only 1,028 certificates were granted.
Hence, the remaining certificates will get carried over to the next month.
