Canadian newcomers to benefit from expanded on-line services, outreach workers

Canada, 3rd March: If you a newcomer to Canada and don’t know where to begin from? Don’t worry, because you can get help from new
on-line resources and outreach workers in Canada.
That’s true. Canadian government has announced expansion of on-line resources for new immigrants in Canada to help them settle successfully in their new country. This is one of the steps by the government of Canada to ease difficulties faced by majority of immigrants in Canada finding relevant services.
While making this announcement, the Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Minister, Jason Kenney, said that the new resource will help those who have sought immigration to Canada in the recent times and need government and private sector services.
The resource, namely— www.servicesfornewcomers.cic.gc.ca./ - is aimed at easy access of services needed urgently by them. These include buying their first home in Canada and many more. The latest step by the Canadian immigration hopes to make the new immigrants in Canada successfully integrate with the new communities around them.
Kenney admitted that successful integration of new arrivals in Canada is a crucial goal for Canada.
This online resource will be expanded and updated continually based upon the services searched by the newcomers using this resource. New immigrants in Canada will be able to save the results of the searches and even send the results from such online resource to their family or other newcomers in Canada.
Apart from settlement services in their communities in Canada, immigrants in Canada will find several services including provincial, federal and territorial government services. Providing settlement services to newcomers in Canada is an integral part of the immigration program of the Canadian government.
Also, outreach workers help new comers in Toronto’s expansive York Region connect to their new home in Canada. Part of the recently created mobile immigrant settlement team created in September 2009, these multilingual outreach workers spot newcomers in the suburbs and other isolated pockets of Canada to link them with programs and services for settlement.
