Canada to welcome high skilled and wealthy immigrants

This was announced by Canada immigration minister Jason Kenney who stated of providing permanent residency in Canada to immigrants possessing skills in high demand in Canada labor market. 

He was announcing changes in the immigration plan for 2010. 

Kenney said that since Canada is recovering from recession, so, it needs to have high economic immigration in the country in order to fulfill the required number of labor workforce for supplementing the domestic labor supply in the country.

The recent changes introduced in Canada immigration rules are in accordance with the needs of the provincial governments, added Kenney.

Canada expects nearly 265,000 immigrants coming to Canada in the year 2010. Every year, nearly 240,000 to 265,000 immigrants move to Canada under different immigrant programs.

The latest ruling by Canadian government will be applicable to the Canada immigration applications made on or after 26th June 2010. Also, all the applicants, under the new rules, will be required to provide proof of the language test undertaken by them.

Apart from the changes announced in Canada economic immigration rules, the government is also considering few changes in the Canada immigrant investor program. 

So, as part of the plans under immigrant investor program, all prospective immigrants desirous of moving to Canada will be required to show a net worth of $1.6 million and invest $800,000 in Canada. Earlier, immigrant investors were required to exhibit net worth of $800,000 and investment to the tune of $400,000. 

The federal government is seeking a limit on the total number of applications for Canada immigration to 20,000 annually under the occupation list. Also, the number of applications for Canada immigration has also been fixed to a maximum of 1,000 applications for each occupation. 

This limit is being introduced in order to maintain balance in the inflow of immigrants into Canada, Meanwhile, all such limits will not become applicable to any one who possesses a job offer to work in Canada.
