Among the student visa seekers for Canada include many Indians who are now choosing Canada after a series of unabated attacks on the Indians living in Australia resulted in a big decline in the Australian student visa applications.

Canada already has a good number of students visiting the country to study every year. As per the records of the Canadian Immigration, nearly 130,000 students from various foreign countries seek Canadian student visa every year. And among these students include those coming to learn either French or English, both of which happen to be the official languages of Canada.

The Canadian government seems to be quick to cash in on this opportunity and sees a good potential in the Indians coming to Canada on study basis. Hence, there has been a relaxation in the visa norms for the Indians wishing to get Canadian immigration on student visa.

Speaking recently about this issue, speaker of the House of Commons, Parliament of Canada, Peter Milliken, who has been on a visit to India, stated the student visa norms have already been simplified nearly six months ago and now, the Indians can study in Canada at reduced fees.

A Canadian MP having his origins in Punjab, Gurbax Singh Malhi, also agreed that the Canadian government had relaxed the norms of studying in Canada. Moreover, the process of visa application is now much simpler than ever before.

Following the same trend as Canada, New Zealand also has come forward to tap a significant student community from India. hence, a special education strategy has been formulated to encourage more and more students from India to seek New Zealand student visa.

Also, the New Zealand tertiary sector has shown its increased concern for seeking collaborations with various Indian institutes and six universities of New Zealand have formed links with the educational institutes in India.

Moreover, partnerships are being developed between the Indian institutes and the Institutes of polytechnics and technology to provide New Zealand degrees in India.
