Canada, 24th June: Canada is the favored destination over the US for immigrating by well-educated and older migrants, finds a recent Canadian immigration research.

The survey involving 148 nations has been undertaken by Susan Hardwick, a geographer at University of Oregon, and Jack Jedwab, an executive director with the Association for Canadian Studies.
The research revealed that as compared to the younger people in the age group between 15-24 years, those in the age group of 25-44 years prefer immigrating to Canada over the US.
In the younger age group, just 27 percent chose Canada as their choice of immigrating overseas, while US was the favored destination for immigrating by 41 percent.
On the other hand, a total of 48 percent in the age group between 25-44 years would like to immigrate to Canada over America, the poll findings indicate.
The relative preference for Canada over the US by the older age group people was among those migrants who are well-educated, research indicates, while those who have only completed elementary education prefer immigrating to the US.
Percentage of older people with secondary education showing preference for Canada was 59 percent to 51 percent.
The reason for this difference for the choice of immigration between younger, elementary educated and older, well-educated is due to the fact that well-educated people have the opinion that Canada offers greater opportunities than the US.
Moreover, wisdom that comes with age and knowledge makes Canada appear a better destination than the US for prospective migrants, the findings of the poll seem to suggest.
The research analysis was done by Rajesh Srinivasan, Neli Esipova and Julie Ray, a group of Gallup researchers.
It is the vital difference between levels of education in the younger and older migrants that clearly explains the reason for better financial prospects in Canada, says Dr. Jedwab.
Immigrants in the US earn $34,400 on an average as compared to the average earning of $44,170 of immigrants in Canada.
People hold a high opinion of Canada, added Dr. Jedwab. Moreover, Canadians will keep on extending their support to those who are highly educated and Canada will enjoy being the world leaders in terms of human capital, he asserted.
