Canada lures jobless Irish immigrants

Canada, 8th October: Irish immigrants searching work are being lured by Canada to come and get jobs here.

For this, Canada immigration minister Jason Kenney is visiting Ireland these days.

Canada invites jobless Irish—Jobless Irish immigrants are being offered a rare opportunity by Canada to come here. The campaign to hire Irish in search of jobs is in progress by Canadian government.

Speaking about the move, Kenney said Canada remains committed to having a strong immigration system that is instrumental in hiring global talent rather than just accepting the applications for Canada immigration.

Canada is a favorite destination for Irish wanting to move overseas for working there. Apart from Canada, Irish also prefer New Zealand and Australia since economic conditions back home have gone from bad to worse.

Canada has forecast nearly 100,000 vacant job positions in oil and gas, mining, transportation and electricity sectors. And its focused to reform its immigration system to attract more immigrants.

More and more Irish have been relocating to Australia for better prospects abroad. So, it does appear to be the right time for Canada to begin its efforts for attracting young and highly educated Irish into the nation.

Jobs fair attract 8,000s Irish jobseekers—In a bid to get details about jobs overseas especially in Canada, New Zealand, Australia and other nations, thousands of jobseekers from Ireland thronged the jobs fair. The queues could be seen quite early in the morning at the venue of the jobs fair.

Canadian firms participate in jobs fair-Nearly 30 construction firms were present to recruit workers for the jobs in Canada. Four Canadian government delegations attended the jobs fair.

According to Behlen Industries’ Genie Everett, applicants attending jobs fair had a quite high standard. The company was seeking to recruit welders and it was very happy at the response it got from applicants.

The skills and work experience of Irish workers was a welcome surprise for Canadian firms, states Mary Moran from Calgary Economic Development, Canada.

The applicants’ qualifications were much higher than the expectations, Moran maintained.

Canada doubles Canada working holiday visas to Irish—Irish will now be provided higher number of Canada working holiday visas as per a latest agreement between Tanaiste Eamon Gilmore and Kenney.

The deal signed this Friday will increase the total number of Canada working holiday visas to 10,700 along with a total stay of two years in Canada.
