Canada immigration treads thin line—bogus marriages

Reason? Immigration officials don’t consider her relationship to be genuine and real.

Woman not allowed to bring her husband to Canada—As per a recent incident, a woman, who has now become Canada citizen, has been lobbying since 2006 to bring her husband to Canada.

Canada immigration officials reject applicants who are unable to convince them that their marriage is genuine or real.

Details show that Martha Cummings-Newray has been told by Canada immigration officials that she cannot bring her husband to Canada because their relationship is not real. Her application for bringing her hubby to Canada has been refuted by the federal government.

That’s because the documents showing the length of her relationship with her hubby are not there. Of course, she has been appealing against the decision of the federal government for not allowing her husband to come to Canada and reunite with her.

Immigration officials doubt purpose of marriage—Well, the reason, as per the immigration officials, seem to be quite clear and genuine.

They are not satisfied that the relationship between Cummings-Newray and her husband was not entered into for gaining entry into Canada. And she did not have any documents to prove the genuineness of her relationship like the marriage certificate. Officials of Canada immigration are given training to assess the relationships of the couples on several factors.

Ways to check Canada marriage fraud— Canada immigration officials(Citizenship and Immigration Canada) are given training for distinguishing real or genuine marriage applications from the fake ones. They do the following—

• Undertake document checks of the couple involved;

• Visit the homes of the people;

• Conduct interviews with the applicants as well as the sponsors. All such measures are for knowing whether the marriage is just for coming to Canada or a real and genuine one based on love and affection.

Any Canada citizen or Canada permanent resident involved in a marriage of convenience for the purpose of immigration might get charged with a criminal offence by Canada government or Canada immigration department for doing so.

It needs to be kept in mind that CIC is going to refuse any Canada visa application of an individual involved in a fake marriage.

Sham marriage--Sham marriage is not considered genuine for the purpose of immigration. And by sham marriage, we mean to say a sham marriage is one that was solemnized only for getting immigration benefits by playing with immigration laws.
