At least half a million Brits thronged Australia during the 11 month period from January till November 2009 while the world seems to be struggling in the face of worst global economic crisis.

The official figures say 564,000 Britons holidayed in Australia which is an increase of one percent as compared with the figures of 2008. This can be attributed to the efforts involved in several campaigns by Tourism Australia over the past one year, said Rodney Harrex, general manager, Tourism Australia.

In total, 478,600 visitors from Britain came to Australia in 2008.

This increasing trend was best seen in the month of November 2009 when 64,200 Britons travelled to Australia, increasing the percentage of Brit travelers in the country by 5.5 percent as compared with November 2008, the Australian Bureau of Statistics revealed.

Seeing a vast tourist potential in the British public, there have been several travel and tourism promotional campaigns by Tourism Australia to attract Britons into Australia in the past two years. Among these campaigns include a few partnerships with different tour operators and airlines companies so as to extend such services at fairly competitive prices.

Apart from travel visas, the strategy also included targeting Working Holiday Visa for Australia among those aged between 18 to 30 years so as to enable them travel and work for a period of up to 2 years.

However, the aim was to invite British people to come into Australia and experience the wonders of wildlife apart from enjoy the rejuvenating experience of holidaying in Australia.

All aspiring British visitors looking to come to Australia must possess a valid Australian Visa. A good option is to go for seeking ETA Visa (Electronic Travel Authority) due the ease involved in the application process of this visa. This visa is issued electronically by DIAC (Department of Immigration and Citizenship), Australia. An ETA visa holder is allowed to enter and stay in Australia for a period of up to 3 months.
