Australia, 31st August: Indian students are being invited by Australian immigration department to come and study in Australia since Australian student visa applications from India have dipped by 40 percent this year.

As per a recent report by CNBC-TV18, the lucrative market of Australia is, undoubtedly, at crossroads and is fearing reversal of the tremendous growth of Australian higher education sector which once became the third-biggest export of the nation.
Indian students have been shunning to move to Australia to study there following a series of attacks on Indian students in Australia, particularly Melbourne last year. Hence, it appears that Australia does not allure Indians any more, since they don’t want to put their lives at risk by immigrating to Australia.
So, Australian immigration department is trying to provide all sorts of reassurances to the Indian students to reconsider their decision and opt for Australia to study there adding the nation is safe to live and study there.
According to Peter N Varghese, the Australian High Commissioner, all efforts are being extended by the Australian immigration to put all fears of prospective Indian students at bay.
Pointing towards the reasons for such dramatic fall in number of Australian student visa applicants from India, Varghese said it is due to negative publicity regarding the attacks on Indians studying in Australia along with the current fluctuations and unstable environment of Australian economy.
And to help invite more and more students to Australia, the immigration rules of Australia are being relaxed along with special seminars being conducted in various nations of the world. A special Australian immigration policy is being initiated by the Australian government for Indian students, Varghese added.
Its not just the Australian government, a number of institutes in Australia are coming up with offers of sponsorships and several incentives for Indian students. Indian students make a significant contribution towards the Australian higher education sector and the economy of the nation.
Australian High Commission reiterated that all such efforts by Australia will bring in desired results and will ultimately win Indian students’ confidence and a significant increase in the number of Australian student visa seekers from India.
