Australia also clamps down on illegal workers

Australian government has currently fastening the tracking of illegal foreign workers in the country to keep a check on the harm done by them to the country.

Recently the Australian government has announced a very big crackdown on the illegal foreign workers who may be working in the country without having proper working visas. This announcement was made while reviewing the new laws of migration. According to the authorities there might be up to 1, 00,000 workers are suspected to be in this category.
Such a step is proposed after the release of a new report by Stephen Howells an independent expert; in his report he found that such illegal foreign workers are involved growing number of illegal activities.
After it government are planning a serious steps to control it. If the employers are found guilty of hiring illegal workers, the government will take strict action against them. Chris Bowen, the Immigration of the country comments on the situation, that he will consider the experts view and would put up to a fine of 10, 000 Australian dollars ($10, 700) for each of the illegal immigrant worker hired by the business people. Even if the employers are found guilty of hiring even few of such workers he will be fined heavily.
As per the expert views they feel that current immigration does not work in an efficient way to keep a check on these illegal foreign workers. The present law only deports the illegal workers that too at the tax payers’ expense they never took any actions on the employers hiring them.
According to their reports they suspect that as much of 50, 000 to 1, 00,000 foreign workers are expected to be working in the country illegally.
As taking for the calculations the number of such persons is quiet small consisting of 0.2 per cent of the total immigrant population. But these percentage accounts in the slowing down of country’s job generation.
According to the Howell’s report the working of illegal workers in country causes problem and curbs the opportunity to the Australians to get employment.
The problem due to it doesn’t end here; it also increases other illegal activities consisting of taxation, fraud and sexual exploitation of the weak and helpless foreign workers. These illegal workers come through as tourist, business, and students visas and start doing work in the country and don’t go back.
Usually the employers and business people take care of the laws but still there are some businesses people in the industry try to use these illegal and cheap labor which is easily available at low prices.
