According to the recently introduced monthly report by the Statistics Canada, the increasing number of employment insurance (EI) beneficiaries is significant indicator of what is happening in the labour market. As per the facts and figures released for the month February 2012, it has been found that around 73, 740 Canadians are claiming their EI benefits throughout the nation. It shows a healthy decline of around 11.8 per cent as compared to the previous year. The figures are quiet staggering and are positive sign for the market. All the provinces have reported drastic decline in EI beneficiaries, but Alberta has remarkably dropped by 34 per cent that is around 27,880 in numbers.
Figures Indicate:
It has been found that decrease in number of EI beneficiaries is possibly due to two reasons firstly the improving employment rates and secondly the EI beneficiaries have completed the number of weeks of collecting their benefits. The earlier reason is quiet productive whereas the lateral is a threat.
But after studying the previous year’s stats it has been found that resultant figures in Alberta is mostly due to the first reason. After the slump in year 2008 to 2009, Alberta job market has gained momentum, since the year 2010 and is maintaining it till now.
The figures shows the drastic developments in Alberta job market sector, no doubt it is an achievement in itself, but as per the experts, still little caution is required so that the market should not face any kind of adverse situation in the coming times.
