Winter Skin Blues

With the onset of autumn and winter fast approaching, a lot of us experience dry and sapped skin.
More than often, we rush out and buy a heavier or more emollient moisturizer which
alone does not help serve the purpose.
The word moisturizer is actually quite misleading as it does not add any moisture to the skin. As we age our skin gets thinner allowing moisture to escape.
The moisturiser simply acts as a barrier, prevents water loss and helps maintain existing moisture levels in the skin.
So how do we bag and maintain a baby soft and comfortable skin during winters?
Here's a know-how of keeping your skin as good as it gets :
1)Use gentle cleansers and scrubs:
Try an exfoliating lotion which chemically delaminates the skin without any harsh granules that scratch or irritate the skin.
2)Use water-rich products rather than the oil-rich ones:
Sometimes all the skin really needs is water or moisture rather than oils especially if you are in a particularly drying environment such as air-conditioning, high winds, flying or extreme cold.
3)During winters, dry scaly skin on your legs, knees and elbows is not uncommon.
A great way out for this scrape is to pour body oil in the bathwater. Pure olive oil can work wonders, especially for the elbows and knees.
4)Nurture your lips and eyes as well.
5)Remember your hair.
Hair takes a lot of beating through the colder months. Apply regular hair oils.
Keep in mind the above mentioned bum-steers and dote-on your healthy and radiant skin this winter !!
Did you say winter blues..??
