The Los Angles City Council is the latest group to extend its support in favor of the US immigration reform. The Council collectively voted in favor of the reform which will provide illegal immigrants a pathway through which they can acquire citizenship. The reform will also introduce changes related to tightening of border security.
The LA City Council said that everyone should understand and accept their responsibility to think about the multiple economic, cultural and labor contributions that are made by immigrants to their cities and the responsibility to shield these workers and their families from devastation and destruction as a result of ineffective immigration raids.
Many people in the United States, who moved to this year quite sometime back, have had great contributions to the societies and communities they live in, in spite of the fact that they still remain illegal in the country. Many so called illegal immigrants have been working in the US for long and many are studying. A large number of these immigrants have given birth to the children in the US and therefore, their children are citizens of the United States. The US immigration reform will make sure that maximum opportunities are provided to these families so that they aren’t broken apart.
Today, on the 25th of June, Barack Obama, will held a meeting with experts on immigration, immigration advocates and lawmakers to set a plan for the reform. The details of the same will then be worked out by lawmakers of Congress.
