US immigration rules are forcing students to look for alternatives

Many countries are competing for international students to come in their respective countries and study. Unfortunately for the US, over the past five years, there has been a percentage decrease in the number of students arriving to study.

International education in the US is considered to be a big business, especially after recent statistics showed that a large proportion of people who come to a country to study, tend to remain in that country and accept jobs in the country’s workforce after their graduation.

The US has always been a popular destination for such global students due to its prestigious establishments and wealth of opportunities that it offers. However, it seems that the trend is changing, as during the past five years there has been continuous drop in the number of students choosing to study in the US.

Instead of the US, it is Australia, UK and Canada that are fast becoming more popular among the students. The three countries are emerging as strong rivals to the US, when it comes to getting international students. It is thought that this priority switch among the students is due to a number of factors.

The most and the most important factor is that other countries are desperately trying to ease their skill shortages in their labour market and thus, visa processes to the countries to study are viewed as more accessible. Due to labour shortages in these countries, students also get the opportunity to successfully integrate into the workplace following the completion of their studies, something that is not guaranteed in many cases.

But, in spite of all this, the United States has not dropped in its ranking when it comes to benefiting foreign students; it still remains as the top-rated country. However, it is believed that the tough process of obtaining study visas for the states is affecting the decision of foreign students.

Following the New York attack, new immigration rules have made it difficult to get into the country in recent years. Not only are the laws criticized of being stringent and tight, they are also termed as far too complicated and complex.

According to the Global Visas, study applicants in the USA with an F-1 visa if they are embarking upon academic courses of study, be it at the primary, secondary or the university level.

Even though the process is complicated, there are many benefits for all those who successfully get the permission study in the US on the F-1 visa.
