The unregulated immigration consultants are the biggest threat for immigrants.

The Article in Toronto Star states the experience and difficulties faced by some immigrants who are caught in the entanglement of unregulated and fake immigration consultants. The article is specifically about Sophie Boutzis and her firm (Scot and Associates). The Toronto Star presents an outstanding piece of work dealing with unscrupulous immigration advisors.

Canadian Society of Immigration Consultants overviews the regulated immigration consultants, but there are many times questions raised on the governance of CSIS. The distressed client or immigrants has the ability to lodge complain against the members of CSIS in case of disappointment and sufferance. The lawyers are always supposed to abide by the conduct of Law Society. As a matter of fact, the unregulated immigration advisors will never encounter the laws, whereas the immigrants become the victim of law. On one hand they are subject to law, and on the other due to inability to get the judgments in favour are expelled from the country.

One couple of Sophie Boutzis is one victim who was trapped between the unregulated immigration advisors and law of Canada. The ultimate outcome of Sophie’s case was that she was expelled from Canada as the judgment was against her and her firm (Scot and Associates). But unfortunately, the unregulated immigration consultants are saved from being penalized. This is one reason why this has become a lucrative option of making money. The one who is left to suffer is the person who consults them.

Rozana Popadapoulos (the victim) tried seeking help from Toronto Police, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the RCMP and Better Business Bureau, but she got nothing except disappointment. So, at last she started taking care of the case herself. Rozana came to Canada from Greece as a toddler, and was now trapped in the situation with no ine on her side to help. She ran all around and investigated the case, and she came up the report that Boutzis not a lawyer or registered member of CSIC. Now, Boutzis being non-member could not come up as the adviser in front of immigration authorities, and moreover, even CSIS cannot handle the case legally in favour of Popadapolous. She had no bad intention while making her mind for Canada, but one unintentional wrong move of consulting an unregulated immigration advisors made her go through a lot of legal complications and expulsion from Canada.
