The reason behind the growth of Alberta is Canadian immigration.

According to a new research, the recent population growth that has been observed in Alberta is because of the workers who are holding Canadian skilled worker visas. The study that was performed by Statistics Canada blamed the continuous inflow of immigrants, refugees and temporary workers into Alberta for turning the province into the country’s fastest growing, in terms of population.

The study showed that in the first four months of the year itself, the population of the province grew by 15000. One of the senior analysts of Statistics Canada, Hubert Denism, said that the population growth that has been observed in the past twelve months ending in march this year has been mainly due to a large number of international immigration.

The chief executive officer of Immigrant Services Calgary, Din Ladak, told a newspaper that the result could certainly be termed as the turning point in the history of Alberta.

Fariborz Birjandian, who is the executive director of the Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, pointed on the impact that the temporary foreign workers have. He said that most of these immigrants prefer to move into small locations in Alberta, but those immigrants who are permanent residents generally settle in Edmonton or Calgary.

It is worth noticing that last month new immigration laws were introduced that aimed at decreasing the current backlog of applications and thereby making the application system more efficient. The law gives the ministry, the power to bypass the normal procedure in analyzing applications in some cases, in order to create the visas at a faster rate for sectors that are experiencing skilled labor shortage.
