New immigrants can learn great things from the workshop

An important program to smoothen the progress of new immigrants has been introduced by the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education at Ryerson University. It recently introduced Prior Learning and Competency and Evaluation and Documentation, PLACED, which is an online workshop aimed to assist newcomers make better decisions about the way they should track suitable employment.
PLACED, which is funded by the Ontario government is provided through the Gateway for International Professionals program of the university. Manager of the program, Martha Ireland, said that the workshop would be of great use for immigrant professionals who are not wiling to opt for bridging programs. Martha said that over here, people participating in the workshop will get experience of a Canadian workshop, develop language skills that required by Canadian employers, and various other things.
Ireland explained that the internationally trained employers, professionals, occupational and regulatory bodies, universities, and various other important figures work with the program. At present, twenty participants have joined a workshop which would last for a period of few weeks.
The workshop will also explain them about what they might come across while searching jobs in Ontario and teach them to build a portfolio demonstrating their experience to employers in Canada.
