Sad experience of a couple- ‘related to immigration department’.

Vadim Peknyi, an Edmonton man was made to face a tuff time by the immigration department and charges immigration department for keeping him away from his wife. Peknyi has sponsored his wife (Halyna) for landed immigration status whom he married in Ukraine last August. Till the time of approval of status, he wanted his wife to come to visit him on visitor’s visa, and here from his trouble begins.

Peknyi complained that his wife twice refused for the visitor’s visa and all the more officials asked her stupid question like why she wanted to go to see him. He came to know later that the immigration officials was refusing visitor’s visa on the ground that she extended her last stay in Canada in September 2006. Actually, when she last visited Canada, her original visa was for three months, and she stayed for nine. But this not a valid reason as immigration department granted her two extensions which was equivalent to six months. Peknyi has given the comment that the standard procedure of immigration department is such that it seems to be to wind people up.

Peknyi is highly dejected with the response of immigration officials, especially when they say that they are too busy to review the case. He even tried to sort the matter with the help of the Canadian embassy in Kyiv, but could not push the case in better position. The worst part of all is that each time they fill out a new application; his wife spends half of her salary to make a 12-hour trip to the immigration office, and what she gets in result is again the same reason to cry. To the pitiable condition of husband and wife, the spokesman of immigration office has said that they are not in the position to comment on the case.
