In talks with the Canadian Minster of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, Jason Kenney, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has asked for more exploration of recruitment possibilities for Pakistan nationals in the increasingly inadequate labor force in some of the Canadian provinces.
A short while ago, the government of Canada had doubled its economic support to Pakistan taking the figure to $60 million dollars.
Canadian immigration minister, Jason Kenney identified Pakistan as an important source of foreign workers for Canada. In his statements, Kenney also addressed the considerable delays in processing of applications of potential Pakistani migrants to Canada, and promised that from now onwards, the government will try its best to minimize the processing time for potential applications.
The visit by Kenney also toughened the growing desire of the Canadian corporate sector to treat Pakistan as a possible source for investments and joint ventures. Kenney also said that he is willing to increase the push for recruitment in Pakistan.
