Canada announced a new immigration bill and introduced the immigration occupation list which will allow new applicants to file their application for immigration to Canada under the Federal Skilled Workers & Professional class. This is certainly good news for engineers, technicians and other skilled workers willing to work abroad. Canada is desperately trying to attract young talent from countries like India by relaxing the norms in the category mentioned above.

The retirement age for most occupations in Canada is 55 years and more than 20 percent of the engineers, doctors, professors and geologists of the country would retire very soon. Subsequently, there will be a talent vacuum in Canada and thus the country would need skilled immigrants to keep the lead in its process of modernization.

The list of 38 high demand occupational categories have been released by the Canadian government and this includes health, finance, engineers, heavy-duty mechanics, industrial technicians, food service managers and other skilled trades.

Those applicants who are unable to qualify under the 38 occupations listed in the high demand list, may be eligible to apply under the following Economic Class Applications:
1-Canadian Experience Class
2-Live-in Caregivers
3-Quebec economic applicants
4-Provincial nominees
5-Investors

The applicants under the Investor category only needs to have a work experience of two years and there is no requirement of any language proficiency test like IELTS, subject to few restrictions. Quebec government offers pretty simplified process for investors to attract them in maximum numbers.
