Nothing stopping the Australian international student program

The Australian reported that Australia is still drawing large numbers of international students with the aim to study in the country.
In the midst of concerns that the global financial slowdown would affect the number of students seeking Australian student visa, the university sector has been closely following the demand for students on an Australian student visa, and the biggest provider of international students in Australia claims that the figures has been positive.
Rod Jones, chief executive of Navitas, said that they are watching the whole scenario and at the moment there isn’t any impact of the global economic slowdown.
According to their figures, there has been an increase in demand for international students by fifteen to twenty percent for the March semester, and they predict that even the session from July will witness a ten to twenty percent increase.
Jones also suggested that the increase in demand might be due to the changes made to the Australian immigration system which means that Chinese students do not need to enroll as early as previously required.
He said that there hasn’t been any slowdown in inquiry for international education.
Jones added that the only country that is now putting forward fewer Australian visa applications for study is South Korea.
