Not a record by an immigrant woman but definitely something different

Livia Ionce gave birth to her tenth daughter, Abigail.

Livia Ionce and her husband, Alexandru have been living in Abbotsford, British Columbia, ever since they immigrated to Canada from Romania. Mr. Ionce who is 51-year old said that his youngest daughter, Abigail was delivered naturally and she weighed 7lb 12oz. Abigail joins 17 siblings aged between 20 months and 23 years.

Mr. Ionce, who works in construction, said that the couple never planned as to how many children they would have. He further said that they let God guide their lives since they believe that God is the source of all lives and it is for this reason that they did not stop the life.

He was not sure whether the couple would add another life to their tally of 18, ten girls and eight boys. Most of the children share a seven-bedroom home.

Mr. Ionce added that he would like the number of boys to be even including him. He thanked God for the fact that all the children are healthy and happy. He added that the birth of their eighteenth child was not at all difficult and both the child and the mother are doing well.

Not a single child of the couple was multiple births and all of them were born apart naturally except their four year old son Filip, who was born through Caesarean-section.

The mother giving birth to maximum number of children in the history was a Russian woman known as “the wife of Feodor Vassilyev”, according to Guinness Book of Records. She gave birth to 69 children in the 18th century and had 27 pregnancies during the course.
