Indian students constitute remarkable proportion of population of Canada.

Ninety-nine percent of the Indian students become Permanent Residents in Canada and with this success rate the population of Indian students is high in Canada today.

Mel Broitman, managing director of the Canadian University Application Centre, said that as many as eighty percent of the Indian students apply for PR after they complete their studies here. He said that in order to keep the population of Canada growing at a constant rate, Canada needs immigrants at the rate of around three hundred thousand every year, and as a result of this need there is a huge demand of talented Indian students.

He said in an interview that immigration is being actively promoted by Canada in its bid to increase the population. The population of the country is 32 million and it needs to be increased. Also, the growth rate of the population is negative and Indian students fill in the gap very efficiently, he said.

Broitman said that almost forty percent of Indian students who are pursuing their education in these five universities come from Punjab and this clearly states that Punjabis are making ways to universities here. He said that one main reason for Indian students coming here to study is the fact that study expenses are lesser in Canada and standard of living is high.

Justin Kohlman from the University of Victoria said that all students from India automatically get a work permit to work in Canada after they complete their graduation simply because they are highly respected for their good command on English and the talent they possess.
