Alberta government has expanded the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) to include the family members in order to fulfill the province’s requirement of workforce. Minister of Employment and Immigration, Hector Goudrean reflected his opinion that welcoming the family members of Albertans is an ideal way to meet the requirements of work force and a reason for family members to live together.
Eligible Albertans can choose to sponsor a parent, child, uncle, aunt, sister, brother, niece or nephew for provincial nomination. The nominated family members must fulfill provincial eligibility criteria in order to join as the workforce of Alberta. The basic eligibility criteria for the applicants are same for all, such as one should be between 21 to 45 years of age, work experience and possession of post-secondary education. The applicants are required to undergo standard federal security and health checks.
Once the applicants reach Alberta, they get the full support of the sponsoring family members in the process of settlement. The AINP gives preference to applicants for permanent residency. The final discretion of granting the permanent resident visas is of Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and once the application is approved, AINP hastens the immigration process. The program will shower Alberta with efficient skilled and semi-skilled workers and the dearth of workforce will vanish in no time.
