How Changes in Canada’s Immigration Law will affect the LGBT people.
Canada is amongst the top three countries which are chosen as shelter by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) people. They feel themselves safe in Canada and this the reason they immigrate to Canada where the very basic norms are diversity and tolerance.
In celebration of World Refugee Day on June 20, an event will be held at 519 Church Street Community Centre. This event will act as the forum to discuss the changes that are brought in immigration and refugee protection act (Bill c-50) and its impact on LGBT refugees in Toronto. Guest speakers will present their opinions about the changes brought in the Canada immigration in context of LGBT people.
The members of the 519’s community will give an insight into the matter as how the changes might affect their communities. Diego Macias, a member of 519 Community reflected his feeling about how exciting it was for them to present a forum in concern of LGBT refugees and immigrants and impact of changes on them.
A short film named “Seeking Conclusion” will also be screened which will highlight the struggle of young man to learn the outcome of his immigration claim. This event will also take place at 519 Community Centre. The main motive of these events is to make LGBT people feel secure and special.
