The province of Quebec, Canada, has initiated its own type of the Canadian Experience Class (CIC) for people who are willing to move to Canada on a permanent basis. The faster version of the programme is for those people who want to become permanent residents of Canada provided they are working or studying for sometime in the country.
The new scheme for immigrants which is called the Quebec Experience Class was announced by Yolande James, the immigration minister of Quebec. She said that for the economic future of the region it is extremely important to attract skilled foreigners who arrive in the country with the purpose of working and students from foreign nations who are studying in Canada.
As per the new scheme, students from foreign countries can apply for a CSQ, i.e. Quebec Selection Certificate, provided they have successfully completed a level B1 French course at any of the educational institution in Quebec, have studied for a minimum of two years in the province and have acquired a diploma or a degree at any recognized educational institution of Quebec.
People who are currently working in the province on temporary work permits will be able to obtain a CSQ provided they satisfy the following criteria-
1. At the time of applying, they are legally employed in Quebec.
2. They have a work experience of twelve months or more in Quebec in managerial, professional or skilled capacity when they are applying.
3. They have completed a B1 French course or have cleared the French proficiency test.
Compared to the Canadian Experience Class which was introduced earlier this year, applying under the new scheme for permanent residency is simpler as well as faster.
