From two to two hundred choices

Life today has presented us with more choices than we could have ever anticipated. Be it a television set for the common room, curtains for your bedroom or a house itself. There is a whole world of choices waiting to be chosen. The options are diverse from the level of a pin to a mind blowing Porsche. Pins, pens and other such items which are bought on daily basis don’t capture much attention but when an average man plans to invest in something with a heavier price tag he intends to check out all the choices on hand and find the best deal for himself.

But the question that arises here is that are all these choices making things easy or tough for the consumer? Does it assure customer contentment? Does it really help to strike better deals?

Though it is considered to be good-after all the more choices we have, the more are we satisfied on our purchase made after comparing all. The fact remains that even the sharpest buyer can be paralyzed by the numerous options. It would have been great had we four or five brands to compare and select from but making a choice out of more than a hundred brands can be tedious.
Latte, espresso or cappuccino...decaf or ice-blended…deciding on a coffee is also becoming complicated.

Actually having an abundance of choices leaves people less satisfied because even the most decent buy makes them think of what they gave up. Not many can be sure if their final decision was correct or if there is still something better lying in the stores that they overlooked. Be it a hair conditioner or a life-partner, one wrong choice can spoil it all. So, what is the solution? Since one cannot afford to spend ages trying to decide on the best product, it is advisable that you consider only three or four of the more popular choices at a time. Consulting friends and acquaintances respectively will also prove helpful. To show that you have standards you don’t need to fret over every last element. Just have a clear depiction of what you want, whether you are looking for a job or a well-fitted pair of hard denims. Once you lay your hands on something impressive enough immediately call off the search. Of-course you don’t have to make hasty decisions just swift and cautious enough to leave you satisfied.
The key here is to discern between choices that fritter away time and the one’s which really matter.
