The big question which every generation of Canada seeks answer to is “what is Canada actually looking for- good citizens or good workers”? The ideal answer to this question since 1960s has been “good citizens”.
The immigrants who come to Canada should sense their responsibility as a citizen as their prime job. They should fulfill all the responsibilities as citizens like, respect the law and order, pay taxes, vote and must be like any other Canadian citizens. But what examples are those immigrants citing who migrate to Canada with their dream to make money and shoe no respect to the law and order of the country.
Canada is definitely not looking for such unworthy and immoral citizens. As a responsible citizen, one is required to contribute in the long run in building up the strength of citizens by reproducing. But again, this part of responsibility is also left unrealized by the immigrants.
In the prevailing scene of irresponsible immigrants, every Canadian is bound to question the relevance of Canada Immigration Policy. Even the new immigration policy talks about the preference of required skilled workers, but nowhere the issue of responsibility as a citizen has been dealt. The Canadian are longing for the answer that why do Canada need “mere workers”, why not a citizen is who works and fulfills his responsibilities as well.
It is very much correct that one who contributes in the growth of a country is very much the citizen of that particular country. The immigrants are very much the residents of Canada, they contribute in the work force, but why are they not touched with the responsibility of a citizen. The answer to this question of Canadians is got to be moral one. The Canadians does not want any skilled immigrant, but what they want is a morally upright citizen who would any day fulfill the responsibility as a good worker.
