Indian students have always found the United Kingdom as an attractive study destination. And the non-requirement of IELTS for some courses has become a great attractor for Indian students, mainly from the region of Punjab. Jaspal Singh, CEO of Jalandhar-based CAAN World Consultants, said that even though IELTS is not mandatory for some education institutions in the country, students will be benefited if they choose not to study in the UK without proficiency in English.
Big changes have been introduced in the visa and immigration regulations by the British government and the new points-based immigration system for those willing to study or work in the country are quite easy to understand and use for everyone.
Under the new system, students would be required to clear a points-based assessment and get an aggregate of forty points or above in order to qualify. Thirty of these points are for the Visa Letter issued to the student by a licensed sponsor and ten points are required for maintenance. In case of maintenance points, students will be required to show that they have enough money to take care of their first year tuition fee and also their nine months expenses for staying in the country. Students will have the luxury to change to another course without filling a new application. However, in case of changing sponsor, students will be required to file a new application. In addition to this, they will also be required to get an unconditional offer from the UK institution where they have taken admission.
