Australia is gaining a lot of popularity amongst Indians who plan to settle and work abroad. The main reason behind this preference is the liberal immigration policies of Australia and the endless opportunities which this place has to offer and attract immigrants.
The Australian statistics bureau has revealed that the number of Indian immigrants to the country keeps on increasing every year, the number being 5,000 in 2001 and in 2007 it has reached 13,500. Australia’s General Skilled Migration (GSM) program unlike many other nations allows skilled migrants for a long list of occupations based on their skill and education.
The long list of “skilled occupation” contains occupation such as engineers, computer experts, health care workers, electricians, welders and locksmiths. The age limit, which is 18-45 years at the time of application and proficiency of English language have the major role to play under the GSM. The applicants must possess ‘competent’ English ability in order to qualify for a job under GSM, except in case of trade occupation, ‘vocational’ English fulfills the requirement.
Australia has lot to offer to its immigrants in respect of job opportunities and good living standard. Australian employers welcome skilled workers from all over the world, but their eyes always long to see the talented workers from India.
