Australia’s immigration intake reaches its highest level in more than fifty years. As a plan to address the constant lack of workers in Australia, the country targets to intake more than 300,000 migrants next year. As the government of Canberra is looking to maintain 15 years of economic growth, an army of temporary and permanent workers will be given visas.
According to a specialist immigration lawyer, Ray Turner, the system is largely in favour of qualified migrants. He said that Australia’s programme of permanent residents aims at targeting professional, skilled workers who are less than 45 years of age and can speak good English. He added that the same can be said about the temporary workers programme as well.
Australia is competing for acquiring skilled, talented immigrants with countries like the United States, Canada and New Zealand. Mr. Turner said that for all the independent immigrants there is a pass marks of 120 pints. Your total points are based on your age, skills, fluency in English and years of experience, he said.
Traditionally, the British and the New Zealanders have dominated migration to Australia but skilled workers from India and China are making themselves count off late. However many of these immigrants tend to return home.
But this did not discouraged Mr. Turner’s beliefs and he said that Australia has numerous qualities that would always act as magnetism for the migrants who are looking for a fresh start. He believes that Australia is the greatest country in the world. He said that he gives seminars to people in various countries and tell them that a third of Australia in the tropics and they have snowfields, deserts and rainforests. He said that one can get anything he or she needs in Australia and the most important off all is that Australia is one of the freest countries in the world.
