Amnesty Provisions to Illegal Immigrants- Right or Wrong Direction?

The case of “amnesty” provisions has come in limelight these days. The dilemma here is whether the illegal immigrants are eligible to have the legal status. Would it be in correct to overlook this matter and punish on the basis of illegal acts or would it be correct to neglect the illegal acts and grant them compassion? Let us consider both sides with the facts!
As far as the present status reveals, there is no amnesty provision for illegal Canadian immigrants in Canada. The only recourse that is available to them is of processing their application under ‘humanitarian and compassionate’ considerations takes over 2 years of time period. For the legal authorities, time is more than enough but ask those immigrants who are still surviving under the threat of being ousted anytime. Considerations should be made for the amnesty provision for Canadian immigrants that have been living here still over the past few years as illegal citizens. Still the question is hanging still in air- is this the right time to allow legal status to illegal residents?
There are thousands of immigrants who reside in Canada as failed refugee claimants, visitors that have overstayed their time period and several more who have been living illegally in Canada. There are some Portuguese as well who were earlier extradited from Canada but are still residing in the country illegally under hidings. Also, there are several thousands of workers who arrived on the pretext of working in Canada for certain period of time and now are reluctant to go back to their own native land even when their contract / agreement has already expired.
The major reason of labor woes in Canada is due to the rising population of this coterie of people, who are in Canada but not of Canada. Canada has still not been able to recognize these people as one of them. Would it be correct to say that Canada should be or the services these non-Canadians or immigrants are rendering in the path of the development of the country? Instead of being obliged there is mass exploitation of them on the basis of immigrant entity and for several other reasons.
Canadians dislike those immigrants who have already surpassed their stay duration and are still asking for favors. But one has to accept the fact since the global wealth disparities can not be eliminated so easily and as long as this is existent, both the legal and illegal immigrants will be attracted towards Canada.
The present situation of immigration status has lowered down to such a level that even current Canadian citizenship policy is supporting the illegal immigration on the pretext of the fact that legal immigration is something next to impossible in present scenario. Even if you are a highly skilled and qualified worker, you have to wait at least more than 5 years to reach Canada. And just look at the preposterous situation even if any immigrant has a Canadian spouse, still he/she gets 'in-Canada' sponsorship not before 18 months or more.
Work has been started in the direction of providing amnesty provisions especially for illegal immigrants in Canada depending on the following checklist:
---Illegal immigrants who are in good health as they would be responsible in contributing more to the development process.
---Those who have positive and fair employment history and community relations.
---Have no criminal record.
Following safeguards against illegal immigrants will also be considered:
---Background check for the immigrants in their native country and in Canada as well.
---Requirement to pay back taxes on income earned in Canada.
---Higher administrative fees.
All this reflects the assurance of safe and enjoyable stay in Canada to immigrants who seem to deserve amnesty.
