A woman living with terror of facing deportation to US.

Katherine Lark Lane’s, an American woman was under arrest and kept in Saint John Regional Correctional Center since June 18, 2008. The story of this female has complex and twist at every turn and sound more or less like some spy story. Lane has the notion that if she is banished to United States, she would certainly not be allowed to survive there.

Lane has been released from the correctional center as per the decision of Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada. The spokesman of the board has not provided with any reason or details about the female, but has stated the fact that she has been ordered to deport within 30 days if she fails in the bid of application of pre-removal risk estimation.

Lane has been putting up in Canada since August 2007. She was arrested on the ground of being an illegal resident. As per the documents of the female that is there with the Immigration Board, the woman (Lane) claims her a freelancer journalist and says that this the reason that administration of US wants her dead.

Lane was arrested on June 18 while she was trying to hide herself from the police. Dianne Tordoff was one of the first members of the Immigration and Refugee board, who interviewed Lane. Lane said in her interview that President George W. Bush and and Vice-President Dick Cheney torture her till the extent of death. She also made it clear that the her situation took the worst turn when she wrote in her article that Dick Cheney is responsible for Disneyland’s pollution that leads to birth defects.

Lane said that her situation was so critical that she never applied for the status of refugee in Canada, and as big personalities are involved in her case, she doubted that any lawyer would take her case. Tough refugee status would have protected her from the prevailing troubles in her life, but now she has the only ray of hope with pre-removal risk assessment of Citizenship and Immigration Canada. The risk assessment might be completed in two weeks, or it might take two months.

The immigration department of Canada talked to Lane’s psychiatrist in California, who said that she was intelligent enough to judge right and wrong. And as for her current status, the doctor said that she is suffering from the aftereffect of trauma of the experience of 10 years of job at the postal Service of US.

The new twist in the story came on June 23 when a Fredericton man came up with a purse with her name written on a note, but there was no apt identity. A search on Internet did not favour Lane as a working journalist.

Lane said Tordoff that if she goes back to U.S.A., she would surely be brought to death and added to it, she would also be declared a terrorist.
