Buddhaholy Siu, a Hutchins student, was told last month that he will have to leave Australia by October 3.
But now, the date has been extended until the 28th of October and it may be pushed further back if his appeal application is assessed as an eligible one.
Buddhaholy wrote personal letters last week, to the Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, Immigration Minister Chris Evans and the Migration Review Tribunal assessors. In the letters, he appealed the federal government to allow him to stay in Australia.
He wrote that the only hope that he now has is that they will listen attentively to his request. He also wrote that he is been deported to a place where he has no one. So, he wished to plead for their protection.
Earlier, Department of Immigration and Citizenship has denied a residency visa to Buddhaholy.
Though he was born in Hobart, he wasn’t able to become an Australian citizen since he moved to Vancouver with his Canadian mother when he was just 10-year-old. After a few months, he was removed from his mother’s care and Hobart Jin-Gang-Dhyana leader Master Wang Xin-De became his legal guardian. Master Wang knew Buddhaholy since his birth.
Mater Wang brought Buddhaholy back to Tasmania in the month of April after he was removed from the Canadian Jin-Gang-Dhyana by social workers who feared for his safety.
But Buddhaholy has not been granted an Australian child residential visa because Master Wang was unable to qualify as his natural, step or adoptive parent.
The premise of this story suggesting that this person is 'scheduled for deportation' is factually incorrect. He is currently in Australia pending the outcome of his application with he Migration Review Tribunal (MRT).
