When my first husband and I, both teachers in England without any children, learnt that our counterparts in B.C. were earning 21/2 times our salary, we decided to migrate to Canada.

Statistics Canada traced the development of landed immigrants and in particular their participation in the labour force. The deportation has been finalized and the Montivero family will be deported on Wednesday. In spite of letters from her obstetrician and also from the airlines, her deportation wasn’t postponed. Her obstetrician is disgusted of this and says that if he writes to the airline officials to let a pregnant woman go on a two hour vacation flight then they do so but at present, when he is clearly saying that due to pregnancy, it is really unsafe for Yesica to fly 14 hours, they say that if anything happens to her then they are not responsible for that and it is the immigration officials who are to be blamed.

A Nagpur-based couple was recently detained by the immigration officers while the couple was trying to take an infant to Canada using a fake passport.

The Indian couple, Amarjeet Singh Lubhana, 51 and his 42-year old wife Kamaljeet, was on their way towards entering Canada and introducing their 16-month old baby girl to their relatives in Canada. However, the couple was stopped at the Mumbai Airport by the immigration officials because the passport of the child they were carrying was obtained fraudulently.

The United States is extremely fortunate because of the fact that it attracts an apparently endless inflow of the best and the brightest people from all across the world as foreign guest workers. Most of these immigrants are highly skilled and talented individuals and have a high-skilled job set aside for their arrival. Most of them enter the US on the H-1B visas. These temporary immigrant workers include IT professionals, physical and social scientists, engineers and various other high level workers. These immigrants are the type of human capital that most societies of the world wish to have. But only few are fortunate, like the US.
